It seems like more and more often we are seeing celebrities that are speaking up about an issue that often keeps women quiet — body image. Can I get a Halle-freaking-lujah?
From the naturally thin women that get criticized and accused of eating disorders to the more voluptuous ladies that are told that they don’t fit in to the skinny standard, these five Hollywood hotties are speaking up about the media’s narrow definition of what is considered beautiful.

Demi Lovato – At just 21 years old, Demi Lovato is already making a big impression when it comes to body image and the media. The Disney star and singer has spoken up about her struggles with bulimia and body image and aims to be a role model for girls going through the same insecurities that she did or those who are battling their own disorders. On Good Morning America, Lovato said “To me, I don’t think it does anybody any good to just hide something or cover it up or lie or whatever. I think … that’s what being a role model is all about. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about speaking about your issues and inspiring others to get help.”

Rebel Wilson – Rebel Wilson is another babe I’d like to invite to my birthday party. The hysterical actress has come on to the scene and given a voice and face to women that have consistently been underrepresented in the media. Though she often plays characters that poke fun at themselves and their size, Wilson speaks up about the importance of finding happiness and beauty within and not listening to what society has to say about it. “I don’t really care what I look like that much, and I think women out there should just be happy with the way they look. They shouldn’t really try to conform to any kind of stereotype. Just be happy and hopefully healthy.”

Beyonce – I feel like I could just post a photo of Beyonce and it would speak for itself but since my job is to write this article I will try to further entice you with my witty banter and her pure flawlessness. In my opinion, the best kind of role model is one who simply lives their message and can communicate their character with how they carry themselves. Beyonce is a true case of “actions speaking louder than words”. The singer leads a somewhat private life but never feels the need to explain her voluptuous figure. She flaunts her healthy curves with confidence every time she’s on stage, or when photographed on a yacht in St. Tropez. But don’t we all…
JENNIFER LAWRENCE Photo Credit: Wallpapersz
Jennifer Lawrence – Ohhhhh J-Law- my woman crush Wednesdays are getting repetitive but you’re just, well, everything. Jennifer Lawrence is known for her “girl-next-door-who-thinks-Hollywood-is-ridiculous-yet-runs-hollywood-in-the-most-appealing-of-ways-and-I-want-to-spend-all-my-hours-with-her” persona. Or at least that’s what I wrote in my diary. The actress may be just a fraction of a size above what we’re so used to seeing in Hollywood but it is her attitude surrounding the topic that makes me wish I was Bradley Cooper. Lawrence has been quoted saying “”What are you gonna do? Be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb” and “If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet,’ I’m like, ‘You can go f- yourself.” Need I say more?
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY Photo Credit: Nino Munoz
Keira Knightley – Keira Knightley is often accused of having an eating disorder and of being too thin, but the naturally skinny and small-boned actress speaks up against the reverse stereotyping and gives us a very human retort. In response to criticisms, Knightley began to question herself stating “I knew I wasn’t anorexic. But maybe my body is somehow not right. Or my face is not right. Or the way I speak is not right. When you’re going through a period where you’re really getting a lot of criticism, you go, ‘Maybe all this is right!’ You just kind of want to hide it all.”
