You want to wear Pharrell’s jeans back to school this year? “RAW for the Oceans” hits stores August 2014.
Beach season and exotic island travel plans are high on my priority list this spring and summer but as an environmentally conscious fashionista, I can’t help but worry every time I see a plastic bottle float out to that growing island of garbage in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Thankfully, Pharrell Williams, Bionic Yarn, and G-Star RAW have found a way to turn that trash into fashion. The denim collection is made using Bionic Yarn, which is created in a way that uses very few natural resources while recovering ocean plastics to reprocess into fibers.
The collection will be stylish and bold like Pharrell himself. That giant hat he wore to the Grammy’s proved the man knows the importance of a good statement piece. His wardrobe is daring and boundary breaking, making him the perfect tastemaker for sustainable fashion. I love that he is raising the conscious clothing bar a level or two. This collaboration is something our closets and oceans can be happy about, so slow clap along when you see “RAW for the Oceans,” in stores August 15th.
We can’t wait to share an update and review as soon as we get our hands on the goods.
